JISCO Achieves Breakthrough with Successful Production of Thick-Gauge Hot-Dip Zn-Al-Mg Products, Filling Domestic Industry Gap
— A significant milestone was achieved by Hongxing Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group (JISCO), with the successful production of its first thick-gauge hot-dip galvanized zinc-aluminum-magnesium (Zn-Al-Mg) coil. This accomplishment not only fills a domestic gap in this field but also highlights JISCO’s strength in product innovation and technological advancement.
This achievement marks the full completion of the "Product Structure Optimization and Upgrade Project for Carbon Steel Sheet Plant – Hot-Rolled Pickled Plate (0-5 mm) Zn-Al-Mg Coating Project", a provincial-level key initiative. The project has now delivered the first coils across three major product categories: pickled plates, hot-dip galvanized plates, and hot-dip Zn-Al-Mg plates, establishing a comprehensive product system for JISCO’s coated steel offerings.
JISCO’s Zn-Al-Mg coated products, a new eco-friendly metallic coating material, demonstrate exceptional corrosion resistance, extended structural lifespan, unique self-healing properties at cut edges, and superior workability. These qualities make them ideal for applications in highway guardrails, roofing systems, utility tunnel engineering, and renewable energy sectors such as photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal, and wind power installations. Leveraging the thick-gauge design, heavy coating thickness, and high strength of JISCO’s hot-dip Zn-Al-Mg products—combined with their low-cost, low-energy, and low-emission manufacturing advantages—the company aims to explore new application fields, delivering substantial economic, social, and environmental benefits.
To ensure the smooth production of the first coil, the management and technical team of the Carbon Steel Sheet Plant’s pickling-galvanizing line meticulously planned the process, formulated detailed production protocols, and rigorously optimized key parameters while preparing contingency plans for potential anomalies. These efforts laid a solid foundation for the successful rollout of the Zn-Al-Mg products.
Looking ahead, the Carbon Steel Sheet Plant will continue to prioritize product quality enhancement and R&D innovation, while actively collaborating with downstream clients to promote new applications.
